Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the leading cause of dementia, is characterised by progressive cognitive decline driven by amyloid-β accumulation, tau pathology, and chronic neuroinflammation. Periodontal disease (PD) is a highly prevalent chronic inflammatory condition initiated by dysbiotic oral biofilms. Growing evidence indicates a significant association between PD and the progression of AD through inflammatory and microbial mechanisms.
